Abstract: In the era of rapid development in information technology, Internet has become the main medium for distribution. Since confidential information transmitted over the internet can be easily intercepted by users with malicious intentions, it has become increasingly important to provide an effective and secure method for data delivery. Hiding a secret message in a cover media to produce a stego media is an information hiding technology. Instead of sending the secret message in the clear, transmitting the stego media over the Internet will be less likely to attract the attention of malicious users. Coupled with an efficient data compression technology, we can minimize the image size to reduce the cost of data transmission. In this study, we propose a lossless, double-compression method that uses a VQ compression index table with SOC and LAS deformation techniques to achieve efficient data compression. In addition, the proposed method can simultaneously hide a secret message during the SOC and LAS compression processes by embedding n secret bits in the index table. Our proposed method can be used to embed large amounts of confidential information. Based on the experimental results, the proposed method can effectively achieve the objective of transferring confidential information.
