    Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the current situation and relationship of first line firefighter’s personality and leisure participation, and to explore the difference of firefighter’s personality and leisure participation in individual characteristics. Through the literature review, the definition and theory of personality and leisure participation were determined. Moreover, Big Five personality traits and leisure participation scale were used as the instrument. The study object was the first line firefighters affiliated with Nantou County Fire Bureau, including 22 fire branches, 3 fire corps, and the dispatch center with an equality to 26 units. In addition to 52 invalid questionnaires, there are 249 valid responses with a response rate of 82.72% from a sampling frame of 301. Based on our hypothesis, statistic was calculated with Cross-analysis and Pearson Correlation Analysis. The result showed there were significant differences in personality and leisure participation among individual characteristics of gender, age, title, region of service, EMT certification level, and marital status. Also, the relation between firefighters' personal trait and leisure participated was supported.
