Abstract: | Purpose: The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship and differences between the motivation, leisure and recreational benefits, and hindrances of people who participate in Yoga activities.
Method: In this study, data was collected via questionnaires, surveys, interviews, etc at the Fitness Factory Gym locations situated in the Kaohsiung area from people who participated in the recreational sport, yoga. A total of 450 questionnaires were handed out with a return of 357 valid replies. Data was analyzed via descriptive statistical analysis, independent sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA and other analytical methods.
Result:
1. Participants of yoga with different “levels of experience” and “monthly expenditure on yoga equipment” had significant differences in their motivation for participating in yoga.
2. Participants of yoga with differences in “education”, “monthly income”, “participation time”, “participation experience”, “monthly expenditure on yoga equipment” and “time of participation” had different hindrances in their participation of yoga.
3. Different levels of “monthly expenditure on yoga equipment” had significant impact on the leisure benefits of the participants of yoga.
Conclusion: From the results of this study, the conclusion is drawn that the main motivation and objective for yoga participants was the improvement of their personal physical health. Monthly income and participation experience were the main hindrances, while the leisure benefits did not vary by much. |
