Collecting is not only the preservation of human civilization, it’s also closely connected to the human life. The collecting history lasts alongside with the human history. However, there isn’t much discussion about collecting with recreation meaning.
The study aims at revealing the collecting process and how it affects the mental status of the collector, enriching and deepening the collectors experience and providing a comprehensive overlook to the related business activity.
The context, process, mental involvement and recreation meaning of collecting will be discussed in the study. The interview with ten several collectors was adopt in the study to explore different types of collecting experiences. The result finds that the beginning of collecting is related to the reasons of “Life leaving”, "Faith leading"," Money making ", and “Aesthetic enjoying”….etc. The collecting process includes “exploring”, ”accumulating”, ”trial and error” and ”interaction with others.” The leisure involvement includes of “going out”, ”coming down” and ” maintaining along”. The leisure meanings are freshness, belonging, fulfillment and sense of achievement that create a free country for the temporary life of the collectors.
