    Abstract: The virtual idol is a new term in recent years, and it means an idol that is different from a human idol but is actually created by human being. The Virtual idols can conduct any activities by human idols on the stage with their looks, images, styles, and modeling being built by 2D or 3D multimedia technologies. Hatsune Miku is one of the most famous virtual idols. Retrospecting the development of Hatsune Miku and literatures of animation, this article discourses the influence of Hatsune Miku on the subculture of Otakuology and society. By the examples of the birth and flourish of virtual idols as well as the idols of 2.5 dimension, this article explains how the Hatsune Miku is prosperous. Besides, the technologies in the future are also discussed.
