摘要:	With the approach of globalization and technology development, knowledge economic transition focuses on innovation in twenty-first century.Therefore, “Cultural and Creative Industries” has been originated. “Cultural and Creative Industries” integrates cultural industry with creative industry, adding innovative element to the original “cultural industry” to boost the development of local economy. Woodcarving cultural industry in Sanyi Twonship has been for about a hundred years, and that is a developing cultural industry tribe. In recent years, because of the global recession, and the opening to the world after joining WTO, the prices of woodcaving handicrafts compete keenly.Besides,owing to the low prices of woodcarving fakes in China and Southeast Asia, the high wooden cost and wages in Taiwan, the consumers’ reducing need of the traditional handicrafts, and high woodcarving techniques, these factors cause that young people are not willing to learn the traditional woodcaving techniques. As a result, woodcarving industry in Sanyi Township faces a tough challenge for sustainable development.However,the distinctive factor of woodcarving industry has lost, and the features of local industry have declined.As far as industrial transfer and the rise of China economy, transformation,as well as innovative and creative abilities to satisfy different consumers’ needs are required in order to prevent the traditional woodcarving industry from eliminating. This study explored the gradual decline of woodcarving industry in Sanyi Township and how to re-find Nichi and values according to literature reviews and SWOT analysis.First of all,the current difficulties and threats were defined with SWOT analysis and TOWS matrix matching analysis. Then, all opinions and methods were advanced to prosper woodcarving industry in Sanyi Township. Hence, this study provided information for the industrial transformation,upgrade and innovative scheme with combining tourism and the adding value of designing creative products to promote the future development of woodcarving cultural and creative industries in Sanyi Township.
