In the past, researches on victims have attracted most attention of protection social work. The research on batterers is few. Most batterers are un-volunteer clients and usually are resistant to social workers. It is important to understand how to interview with batterers in order to build allied relationship with them. This study attempted to supplement the research on the interview skills with batterers. The research used qualitative method to interview 6 social workers who worked with batterers in the middle part of Taiwan. The research results are: the target is to decrease the resistance, show function to gain trust, sincere and enthusiasm can build relationship, use opportunity to intervene, and the importance of basic skills. Finally, suggestions for social work practice and for future research are provided. Social workers can use the study results to interview with batterers to build allied relationship with them and to change their abusing behaviors.
